

Donna Gail Kiening passed away on July 17, 2015 at the age of 64. Born on September 11, 1950 in Wichita Falls, Texas, Donna was a resident of Victoria, Texas for 38 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Velma Duke, and brother, Paul Duke.
Donna is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, James S. Kiening, Jr., (Jim); son, James S. Kiening, III and wife Sandra, of Victoria; daughter, Dr. Jennifer Kiening and husband Brian Keen, of Cedar Park; and son, Nathan Kiening, of Victoria; her grandchildren, Allison, Natalie and James S. Kiening, IV; Kate and Macy Guevara, Hudson and Harrison Keen; Nathan and Nicholas Kiening; sister, Linda Urbantke and husband Ardeen, of Round Rock; sister-in-law, Judith Duke of Cibolo; sister-in-law, Mary Hughes and husband Robert, of Houston; cousins and favorite travel companions, Carl and Molly English, of Lakeway; several nieces and nephews, and dear friends.
Donna's father was a Major in the U.S. Air Force. When she was growing up, the family lived in many places, including Germany. They eventually returned to South Texas, where Donna graduated from Mary Carroll High School in Corpus Christi.
Donna earned degrees in nursing through Victoria College in 1982 and Graceland University in 1998. She earned a Master of Science in Nursing Administration from Texas A&M - Corpus Christi in 2000. She began her nursing career with DeTar Hospital in 1982 as a staff nurse in the Special Care Nursery with cross training in Labor and Delivery and OB-Gyn. In 1986, Donna advanced from head nurse of OB-Gyn to Supervisor of Family Center. In 1987, she took on the role of Business Unit Director of DeTar's Women and Children's Center until her retirement in 2010.
A memorial service will be at 10:00 am Saturday, August 1, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church, 407 N. Bridge Street, Victoria.
