Doreen Mae (Pennewit) Box

Doreen Pennewit Box ,92, transitioned to heaven on June 6, 2024.

She was born May 20, 1932, to John W. Penewitt and Lenora Scroggins Penewitt in San Antonio Texas. She married William O. “Bill” Box in May of 1953.

They were married 61 years before Bill died in 2014. Doreen and Bill were blessed with two sons, Daniel Patrick Box and Michael Keith Box, both of whom preceded her in death in 2012 and 2021 respectively. She was also preceded in death by her brother Dale Penewitt (Karen) in 2012.

Through the years Doreen enjoyed working in her flower beds, decorating her home, visiting with friends, reading, shopping and playing cards. She enjoyed fun times with her sisters and their families, Dorothy Sappington (“Bud”, deceased), Mary Hubbard (Charles), Nancy Tucker (Tommy, deceased), and Sylvia Berger (Kenneth). She sometimes traveled to north Texas to spend holidays with her son Michael Box, daughter in law Judy Janak, step granddaughter and her step great- grandchildren.

Doreen was a member of Parkway Church in Victoria and enjoyed her small group and Bible studies at Morada Independent Living for the past 2 years. She was a woman of grace and compassion who lived her life fully. Her presence will be missed but her love is eternal.

A graveside service will be held at Memory Gardens, 8919 Hwy 87 N. on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at 10 am, with Brian T Brown officiating.
