

Ella Lola Schorlemmer, 94, passed away peacefully at her home in Victoria, Texas, on October 19, 2011. She was born on November 8, 1916, to Joseph Daniel and Hulda Dickens in San Marcos, Texas. She graduated from high school in San Marcos and earned her college degree in Home Economics from Southwest Texas State College. Later she obtained her Master's degree in Education from Texas A&I in Kingsville. She was an educator for 42 years, 27 years with the Victoria Independent School District. She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. She was the first president of the Texas Eta Pi Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, was a member of the Victoria Garden Club, Stamp Club, and state and national educational psychology societies. She helped many at-risk students become productive individuals. She loved her garden and flowers, as well as her backyard birds. Her family was the love of her life.
Mrs. Schorlemmer was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gilbert H. Schorlemmer, a sister and a brother. She is survived by her two sons, Dr. Gilbert R. Schorlemmer and his wife Rachel of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Dr. Rodney N. Schorlemmer and his wife Vikki of Beeville, Texas, and by sixteen grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Friends and colleagues may come by to pay their respects beginning at 9 am on Friday, October 21, 2011 at Colonial Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church with Rev. John Waak officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers are Paul Schorlemmer, Randall Schorlemmer, Jeremy Sullivan, Daniel Schorlemmer, Tim Dohmann, and Clavon Gibson.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to those who cared for her during her last years: Linda Garcia, Martha Munoz, Sylvia Cantu, Connie Cantu, Lisa Aviles, and Rachel Garcia. Their loving care made her final years as comfortable and pleasant as possible.
Gratitude is also extended to Accolade Hospice, Dr. Francisco Ortiz, and those at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church who ministered to her. She is truly comfortable now and at peace in heaven with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
