

Elsie was raised in the Guadalupe community along with seven brothers and five sisters. On June 21, 1938, she married William “Bill” Parkan and together they raised four sons. Elsie was known by her family and friends as a wonderful wife, mother, cook and seamstress.
As a lifelong member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Elsie belonged to the Altar Society and the Sewing Circle. Much of her time was spent making craft projects and piecing quilts for the annual church festival. In her later years, Elsie also volunteered to make quilts at the Victoria Senior Citizens Center. She was also very active with VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her sons: William (Paulette) Parkan of Deer Park, Texas, Glenn Ray Parkan of Bonney Lake, Washington, Clarence (Barbara) Parkan, and Lawrence (Shirley) Parkan of Victoria, nine grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and sister, Anita Kelly of Houston.
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bill, her sisters, Ida Klug, Emma Boehm, Alvina Cardwell, Gertrude Davidson; her brothers, Otto, Gus, Henry, Herman, Edwin, Victor and Carl Boehm.
Pallbearers are Randy Parkan, Keith Parkan, Bill Parkan, Jr., Paul Parkan, Tim Dentler, Pat Fisseler, and Chris Sills.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 14, 2012 from 5-7 PM with a rosary at 7 PM at Rosewood Funeral Chapels. The funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Altar Restoration Project.
