She has written several books about this as well as numerous family history books for people of this area. She (as well as her parents before her) has always been able to lend a helping hand for those she knew who were having a difficult time in their life. She was named Citizen of the Year
in Refugio County 2005 and Citizen of the Year for the Coastal Bend. She loved her family and loved making quilts for them at which she was an expert.
She was a great supporter of the Refugio County Fair and has hundreds of ribbons and plaques to represent her wins. She was the gatherer of family history information for the Fagan and Putnam families which she carefully cataloged for future reference. She also collected and preserved items from families and places throughout the area. There is a small personal museum located at the ranch. She will be greatly missed by many throughout the area.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church in Tivoli, Texas at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor David Parks and Pastor Cyndi Meyers officiating. A private family burial will be held at the Tivoli Cemetery, Tivoli, Texas.
