Hedy Gaida Stakes, 81, of Victoria, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023 in New Braunfels. She was born in Yorktown, Texas on October 12, 1942 to the late Ed and Marilyn Mueller Gaida. For over four decades, Hedy worked as a Teacher for Victoria Independent School District, Trinity Episcopal School, and Our Lady of Victory, where she impacted the lives of many students. Hedy was a member of Our Lady of Victory Cathedral in Victoria, Texas.
In addition to her parents, Hedy is preceded in death by her sister; Carol Gaida Lowman, and brother; William Gaida.
Hedy is survived by her son; Cullen Stakes and his wife Tiffany, grandchildren; Stella Stakes and Sadie Stakes, brother; Edwin Gaida, and extended family and friends, all of whom will cherish her memory.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 from 5-7 pm, followed by reciting of the Rosary at 7 pm, all at Colonial Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at 2 pm at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral, with interment immediately following at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
Honoring Hedy by serving as pallbearers will be Cullen Stakes, Carson Marek, Bob Koricanek, Cris Green, Jerod Harris, and Cody Cole. Honorary pallbearers will be Edwin Gaida, and Victor Spacek.
