Herman De Los Santos Salinas, 58, of Victoria passed away Friday, March 12, 2010. Herman was born July 25, 1951, in Port Lavaca to Manuel Salinas of Victoria and the late Elosia De Los Santos Salinas. He was an operator for Gulf States, Inc. at the Dow Chemical Plant for 39 years. Herman was also a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. He had worked for Brown and Root for many years but one of his greatest joys came from playing softball. Teams would be calling Herman, looking for a pitcher, and he would always say “Yes.” Herman met his wife, Ophelia, through his friends Jesse and Cindy Licerio at a dance at Riverside Convention Center in 1982. They were married at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church on December 22, 1984. Herman was a great husband, father and brother to all. He loved his grandchildren, William and Gabi so much, and enjoyed spoiling them every chance he got. Herman will truly be missed and we will always love him. May he rest in peace knowing that he touched so many lives with his kind generous nature. “He was one of a kind. God is good.”
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Ophelia Gutierrez Salinas, of Victoria; daughters, Veronica Marie Quiroz Sassenhagen, and husband, David, of Webster, Monica Denise Salinas and Bianca Danielle Salinas, both of Victoria; mother-in-law, Ophelia Gutierrez of Victoria; sister, Maria Elena Salinas, of Victoria; brothers, Fernando D.
