

On Saturday, September 5, 2015 James F. Schoener, 62, of Victoria, Texas left this Earth to be with our Lord in Heaven while surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. The Schoener Family would like to say a special ‘Thank You” to all of the ICU Staff at Citizens Hospital, DeTar Hospital and MD Anderson Hospital for their excellent and compassionate care of James throughout the past several years.
James was born on October 15, 1952 in Victoria to Fritz and Tina Schoener and graduated from Stroman High School in 1971. After graduating high school James served our country from 1972-1978 in the Army Reserves. On March 1992 in Victoria James married Melvina Sanchez of Victoria and together they raised a family of three children for the last 23 years while residing in Victoria. James was a very committed and genuine employee to Dupont and Invista, in which he dedicated 37 years of loyal service at the Victoria plant as an operator since 1978. James was a very determined, straight forward, honest, and compassionate man who loved his family and friends with an unyielding devotion. For those closest to James, remember the times of happiness, joy, and time spent together, as that was one of his final wishes for our comfort after his passing.
James is survived by his wife, Melvina Schoener of Victoria; son, Daniel Lee Schoener of Corpus Christi; daughter, Megan Schoener Migl (Aaron)of Victoria; grandsons, Aaron Schoener, Tyler Schoener, and Kaidyn James Migl; mother-in law, Mary Sanchez of Victoria; niece: Alvina C. Dominguez (Esteven) and nephew, J.R. Cranfill (Sarah) all of Houston.
James enjoyed “his Dr. Pepper”, dancing, fishing, traveling to Vegas, family gatherings and spending quality time with his grandson, Kaidyn.
James is preceded in death by his parents, Fritz and Tina Schoener and his son, Christopher Allen Schoener.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Rosewood Funeral Chapels.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, September 11, 2015 at Rosewood Funeral Chapels in Victoria, Texas. Burial with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers for James will be Oscar Acosta, George Alexander Sr., Shaun Berger, John Cranfill Sr., John Cranfill Jr., and Esteven Dominguez.
