Jenica Leigh Edge Barnard, 22 of Victoria, entered in to glory following a car accident on September 9, 2016 in Fredericksburg, and is now at rest in the arms of Jesus Christ, her Savior and King. She is survived by her husband, Brandt Barnard, her parents, David and Pamela Edge of Victoria, her siblings, Megan and Matthew Edge of Victoria, and in-laws, Patrick and Sharon Barnard of Victoria. She is also survived by her grandparents, Harold and Lois Edge and Nelson Janssen. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Estelle Janssen.
Jenica was born April 4, 1994 to David and Pamela Edge in Eagle Lake, TX. She attended Victoria East High School, serving as head drum major her senior year with the band program, and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas State University May 12, 2016 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, Curriculum and Instruction and a TEA EC-6th ESL Generalist Certification. Jenica married the love of her life, Brandt Barnard, on December 20th, 2015 after many wonderful years together since meeting in high school. After marrying Brandt, Jenica moved to Fredericksburg to complete her spring semester of student teaching at the Fredericksburg Primary School. Following graduation from Texas State, Jenica worked as a 2nd Grade English Language Arts teacher at the Llano Elementary School in the Llano Independent School District. Jenica loved the body of Christ and was a faithful member of her church, High Pointe Baptist Church in Austin, and since moving to Fredericksburg, attended Fredericksburg Christian Fellowship.
Jenica’s life genuinely reflected the joy of knowing her Savior, Jesus Christ. She continuously blessed her family and friends through her genuine spirit, compassion, care, prayers, and love. Jenica loved to dance with all of her might. Her laughter, singing and love for others were continually displayed energetically and loudly. Some of her great passions were teaching her Llano Elementary second grade students, loving little children and music.
Her contagious, beaming smile lit up every life she touched and proceeded from a heart anchored firmly on the solid rock of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Jenica sought to bring every moment of her life captive to the joy and peace of knowing that God, being rich in mercy and love, though she was at one time dead in her trespasses and sins, made her alive in Jesus Christ by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. Her deeply passionate love, care, humble heart, loyalty, and genuine, pure joy are beautiful gifts of a good and gracious God. God immeasurably blessed her husband with an exemplary wife and provided him with 8 blissful months of marriage. He cannot wait to see her again in glory and worship together their Great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.
A celebration service of the life of Jenica will be held Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Our Savior’s Lutheran, 4102 N Ben Jordan St, Victoria, TX 77901 beginning at 1:30pm.
