Much beloved wife, mother, aunt, and friend, Joann Pickering, known to those who knew and loved her as JoJo, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2018 in San Antonio, Texas. JoJo was born on December 28, 1930 in Victoria, Texas to Edgar and Frankie Koch.
She is preceded in death by her childhood sweetheart and husband of 67 years, George; her sister, Jean Hudler, and her cherished mother, Frankie Koch.
She is survived by her brother, John Koch and his wife, Janelle; her sons, George Pickering, and Mark Pickering and his wife, Suzanne and their children, Alex and Molly; and her good friend and sister in law, Karen Pickering.
JoJo was a genuinely sweet soul with love enough for all those who were lucky enough to be a part of her world. In truth, her family was the true love of her life, closely followed by her love of Dr. Pepper and chocolate. She will be missed beyond measure for those of us who have been left behind. We know that JoJo would have wanted all those she loved to hold dearly to each other as we move throughout our lives without her. We also know that we will, one day, be blessed to reunite and hold her again. Until then, we will remember our sweet JoJo with a smile and all of the many loving memories we hold of her.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 10:30 am at St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church, 111 Barilla Place, San Antonio, Texas, 78209.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
