It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our father, Johnny George Grahmann Sr, of Hallettsville, TX. He was 94 years old and left us to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 25, 2025.
Daddy was born on September 4, 1931 to John and Laura Rothbauer Grahmann. He was a man of many passions, including cattle ranching, pecan harvesting and splitting wood to sell, all of which he took great pride in. One of his favorite pastimes was listening and dancing to Czech polka music by bands such as The Red Ravens, Vrazels and Jodie Mikula. He also loved working in his garden and enjoyed family time especially playing dominoes with us all. He was united in marriage to our mother, Agnes Fajkus Grahmann on April 10, 1956 at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Praha, TX. Their ceremony was celebrated by Father Marcus Valenta, who performed the Mass and Bishop Charles V. Grahmann, who officiated over the wedding vows. This was Bishop Grahmann’s first wedding ceremony as a newly ordained reverend in the church. He worked for DW Marshall Construction and then Krueger Construction for over 40 years, where he earned the respect of many for his hard work and dedication.
Daddy served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and following that, in the Army Reserves. In addition to his service in the military, he dedicated much of his time to his church and community. He served on the finance committee and as an usher at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral in Victoria, TX. He was also a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus, all of which were a testament to his faith and commitment to service.
Daddy was preceded in death by his parents; our mother, Agnes Fajkus Grahmann; brothers, Tony, Leon, Tommy and infant brother Emmanuel; and sisters, Dorothy Henneke and Margaret Fojt.
He is survived by his children, Martha Grahmann, Allen Grahmann, Larry Grahmann, Johnny Grahmann Jr (Susan), Mark Grahmann (Brenda), Mary Elkins (Don II), Teresa Knode (Kevin) and David Grahmann; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three brothers; Edwin, Leroy (Cathy) and Richard; three sisters, Loretta Hardcastle (Roy), Catherine Darilek (Kenneth), Rosemary Mikush (Marvin); and his companion, Gloria.
Our father’s life was one of service, devotion to family and dedication to work. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
