Lavern, or Barney as most knew him, was born in Canton, OK, May 7, 1923, the son of Ernest Myers and Clovia Richter Myers.
Barney was a light-hearted, easy going , hard-working man who led a full life filled with love for GOD, family, friends, music and travel whenever he got the chance.
He retired in 1985 after 37 years working for the Sante Fe Railroad.
He is survived by two sons: Edwin Myers, wife Martha of San Augustine, TX and Vodie Brooks, wife Linda of Victoria, TX; four daughters; Loriene Chrestman, husband Mickey and Verna Janzten of Wilburton, OK, Kay Russell of Shreveport, LA and Beverly Singleton of Victoria, TX; 19 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 14 great, great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Leon Myers, wife Vermadine Myers and son Dennis Brooks.
A memorial service will be held at Rosewood Chapel in Victoria, TX at 10:00 AM on Saturday October 14, 2017. Discourse given by Vodie Brooks.
