

L. J. met his future wife on July 4, 1945 at a church picnic at Raisin Hall. Shortly after, on December 18, 1945, he was drafted and remained in the Army until 1947. On April 24, 1948, he married Beatrice Willemin at Our Lady of Lourdes in Victoria. He and his wife were members of the Polka and Waltz Club until he was 77. He liked to hunt and fish with his six children when they were younger and take care of the cattle on the ranch. He was a family man in the true sense of the word. He loved to vacation in the hill country, work in his yard, bar-b-que, and spend time with his four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He attended all of his grandson’s baseball games until he could no longer go. L. J. has also been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for 36 years. L. J. worked in the oilfield for 47 ½ years, first at Stone, then Spears, and was superintendent for Patterson Well Service when he retired in 1990.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Beatrice Willemin Mueller; daughters, Lynette (Gary) Buckler and Susan Mueller of Victoria and Darlene (Pete) Sprague of Whitehouse; sons, Jimmy Mueller and Stephen Mueller of Victoria; grandchildren, Kimberly (Paul) Fleener and Sherri (Clint) Kickendahl of Victoria, Lisa (Neil) Cochran of San Antonio, and Jared Buckler of College Station; great grandchildren, Hayley Fleener, Ashley Fleener, Kelly Fleener, and Carter Kickendahl; sisters, Alice Malota of Ganado, Ellen (Ello) Orsak and Annie (Emil) Frysak of Victoria; brother, Herbert (Lullia Mae) Mueller of Victoria.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Carolyn “Cookie” Wood; sisters, Minnie Mueller, Leona Kremling, Irene Martin, Viola Green, and Nora Schuette; and brothers, Walter Mueller, Leo Mueller, and Raymond Mueller.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Colonial Funeral Home. A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 pm Wednesday, at Colonial Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Barney Matocha officiating.
Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Dennis Willemin, Ronnie Mamerow, Donald Mamerow, Frankie Drozd, Jr., Neil Cochran, Paul Fleener, Clint Kickendahl, and James Mueller. Honorary pallbearers are Elton Polzin, Herrell Elsik, Frankie Drozd, George Matula, Ben Winkler, David Vahalik, and Buddy Patterson.
