

Leslie A. Sparks, 90, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2015. He was born May 16, 1924, in Victoria to the late Albert and Myrtle Ball Sparks. He was a graduate of Patti Welder High School, and served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Leslie retired after 40 years as a Fire and Safety Inspector at Dupont. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Cathedral.
Survivors include his daughters, Elaine Smith and her husband, Denzil of Houston, Barbara Rager and her husband, Ed of LaPorte, and Bonnie Draper and her domestic partner, Susan K. Smith, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; son, Gary W. Sparks and his wife, Dolores, of Victoria; sister, Dorothy Morris of Dallas; brother, Charles E. Sparks of Arlington; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Z. Sparks, and a brother, Oscar Sparks.
The family will receive friends from Noon – 1:30 pm Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Rosewood Funeral Chapels. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm with Deacon Scott Hill officiating. Entombment will be at Resurrection Mausoleum with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Orsak, Grant Martin, Justin Adamson, John Ruddick, Jacob Orsak and Benjamin Martin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Denzil Smith, Ed Rager and Don Orsak.
Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
