Lorenzo Martinez Mejia, Sr., 91, of Victoria, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026, in Victoria. Lorenzo was born in Houston, Texas to Rosario Mejia and Sara Martinez Flores on August 10, 1934. He met and married the love of his life, Virginia Hinojosa-Reyna and six children were born to this union. Lorenzo served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired Mechanic and former retired foreman with Universal Electric.
In addition to his parents, Lorenzo is preceded in death by his loving wife, Virginia Hinojosa-Reyna Mejia; daughter, Diana Mejia; son, Richard Mejia; sisters, Julia Cervantez, Lina Bazan, Josefina Rodriguez; brother, Frederico Mejia, three grandchildren; and step brothers, John Ralph Casas and Jessie Casas.
Lorenzo is survived by his daughters, Chelsea Nowlin, and Mary Mejia-Ramirez and her husband Rafael; sons, Lorenzo Mejia, Jr. and Benny Mejia and his wife Blanca Flores; sister, Estella Mejia Casares and her husband Jose; eighteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren; step sisters, Patricia Casas, Lucy Casas, Katie Leija, Josefina De Los Santos and Beatrice Calderon; step brothers, Johnny Casas, Jr. and Ernest Casas.
Rosary will be recited at 6 pm on Monday, January 19, 2026, at Colonial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 19, 2026, from 7-9 pm at Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 10 am at Colonial Funeral Home with interment immediately following at Guadalupe Cemetery in Mission Valley.
Honoring him by serving as Pallbearers are Christopher Huerta, Jr., Abram Jay Mejia, Frank Ezekiel Garza, John Cruz Nelson, Octavio Huerta, Christopher James Craig-Huerta, and Andres Barraza. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be all his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
