AVIS DE DÉCÈS
Marie Elena Shows
3 septembre 1941 – 9 février 2021
Marie Elena Shows was born September 3, 1941 in Colorado. She fell asleep in death on February 9, 2021 in Port Lavaca, Texas at the age of 79. She was the daughter of the late Antonio and Ninfa Parra. She married Raymond Shows on April 10, 1962. She was preceded in death by parents, Antonio & Ninfa Parra; sisters, Maria Celia Montoya, Jenny Montoya, Josephine Johnson and Carrie Parra; brothers, Tony Parra and Charles Parra. She is survived by husband, Raymond Shows, her sons Raymond Shows Jr (Rebecca) of Port Lavaca and Terry Shows (Kathy) of Matagorda, her daughter Lenore Lynn Brown (Rob) of Cibolo and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Caroline (Gerardo) Granato of Katy, Olivia (Willie) Lopez of Pueblo, Colorado and Eddie V Parra of Pueblo, Colorado as well as numerous nieces and nephews along with friends that she dearly loved. Her younger days consisted of waitressing and taking care of the household along with her children, but her greatest and most satisfying work was talking to people about God’s Kingdom and studying the Bible with them. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on December 24, 1966 in Pueblo, Colorado. She faithfully served Jehovah God, most recently at the Port Lavaca, Texas English Congregation. She set a fine example of faith until her death, remaining courageous and speaking with others about the Bible’s promise of a time when suffering and tears of sorrow will be gone from earth forever. One of her favorite scriptures was John 5:28, 29 where Jehovah God promises a resurrection. Ray is waiting for that day when he will be able to see his precious bride again. Marie and Ray met in 1960 when he was in the United States Army and together they had 3 children. They were married for almost 59 years. Marie had always wanted a dog, but Ray kept telling her no. She loved any kind of animals so that never stopped her from having animal after animal at the house all the time. Marie was always in the garden planting something. Her house had many flowers and planters both inside and out. Even in her last days, she was concerned about the plants' wellbeing. If you ever wanted to see her really smile, you could count on a flower to cause one. She was always young at heart and her love for her husband never extinguished. We all knew that Marie loved to speak her mind, but despite how stern she might have been, we loved her for her honesty. She was hospitable and showed the true Christian quality of love to all she met. We truly respected and loved her and we will miss her and cannot wait to see her in Paradise. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
