Marilyn Ida (Wessels) Niesner

Marilyn graduated high school in La Grange in 1953 and then attended college at the University of Texas at Austin. She married the love of her life, Franklin Niesner, on September 5, 1955 and they enjoyed 63 beautiful, loving years together.

Marilyn was an active member of the Catholic Daughters of America, and the Altar Society where she received her 55 year pin. She was also a very proud member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy where she served as chaplain. Upon her retirement from Wilson Supply Co., she served as a dedicated volunteer at DeTar Hospital for many years.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Adela (Hoelscher) Wessels, her brother, Marion Wessels, and her great-grandson, Andrew Blaine Morris II.

She is survived by her husband, Franklin Niesner; her son, Michael Niesner and wife, Marian of Victoria; daughter, Cheryl Cannon and husband, Jeff Cannon of Frisco, and daughter Mary Ratliff and husband Samuel Ratliff of Marble Falls. Marilyn was abundantly blessed with thirteen grandchildren: Kimberly Walpole and husband Clay, Lindsey Travis and husband Kirk, Justin Niesner, Kathryn Carroll, Bradley Hajek, Lauren Morris and husband Blaine, Katelyn Hogan, Sarah Forren and husband Stephen, Megan Warren and husband Lee, Jeffrey Cannon II and wife Sheena, Meghann Jacks and husband Garrett, Sarah Salinas and husband Michael and Claire Cannon.

She continued to be blessed with great-grandchildren: Kennedy and Walker Walpole, Shelby and Logan Travis, Benjamin Niesner, Abigail Carroll, Harper and Holland Hajek, Tatum Morris, Kayden and Lucy Forren, Jeffrey Cannon III and Josiah Cannon and Cora, Nola and Gideon Jacks.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Rosewood Funeral Chapels on Sunday, May 19, 2019 from 3 – 5 pm.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am on Monday, May 20, 2019 at Holy Family Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited at 9:30 am preceding the funeral services. Entombment will follow the service at Resurrection Mausoleum.
