MARTHA IRENE JONES, beloved mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and the best of friends was called home on December 22, 2024. Irene was born to Dr. John Carroll, DVM and Laura Carroll on February 19, 1943 in Victoria, Texas. Irene graduated from Victoria High School in 1961. She met and fell in love with Barry Lee Jones and married in 1962. Together they raised four amazing children. Irene’s love and care for animals of all kinds came as second nature. In 1985 she began her lifelong career of healing and nurturing animals with Dr. Arthur Schomburg, DVM. In 1988 she began working with Dr. Thomas Culberson, DVM and later Dr. Shana Bohac, DVM at Navarro Small Animal Clinic where she loved and cared for millions of pets during her day and often after hours. She was with Navarro Small Animal Clinic until her retirement in September, 2024. When she wasn’t taking care of animals, she was taking her precious Miniature Pinscher’s to dog shows all over. She was a member of the Miniature Pinscher Club and showing her babies was one of her favorite things. Irene was also an avid shopper and lover of Market Days everywhere. She loved a good shopping road trip. She loved everything Texas and Red, White, and Blue, which she sported often.
Irene is proceeded in death by her father, Dr. John Carroll, DVM, brother, Sjon Carroll, husband Barry Lee Jones and granddaughter Shelby Marie Jones. She is survived by her mother, Laura Carroll, sister, Leroyn Wyatt, her loving children, sons, Casey Allen Jones (Tracy), Vernon Lee Jones (Cindy), Christopher Michael Jones (Corinna), daughter, LeAnne Jones Cano (Michael), grandchildren, Justin Jones, Joshua Jones, Kyler Jones, Tanner Cano (Angelica), Sjon Cano, Michael Cano (Sadie), great granddaughter Sayler Cano, Bubba the cat and her dogs, Cookie and Oakley. Irene was the best of all of us and will be greatly missed.
