

Melba was a devoted mother and wife whose happiest moments were spent caring for her family. She was also a gifted artist and loved spending time in her garden. Melba was determined and courageous, a beautiful person inside and out. She ran the race well and finished it with dignity.
Melba is survived by her husband of 56 years, Harold M. Johnston; daughters, Elizabeth Teal Winn and husband, Edward of Austin, TX, Kathleen Barthelow Blaschke of The Woodlands, TX; son, Michael Murphy Johnston of Austin, TX; sister, Sandra Sommerfrucht and husband, Jim of Grand Prairie, TX; grandsons, Walker and Taylor Winn of Austin, TX and Max and Ben Blaschke of Nashville, TN and several nephews and nieces.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her infant daughter, Anne Johnston.
A visitation will be held, Monday, January 27, 2014 from 6-7 PM with a rosary to be recited by Deacon Jim Koenig at 7 PM at the Rosewood Funeral Chapel.
A Funeral Mass will be, Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at 10 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Msgr. Michael Harrold officiating. Burial will immediately follow at the Catholic Cemetery #3.
Pallbearers will be Michael Johnston, Walker Winn, Taylor Winn, Max Blaschke, Ben Blaschke, Ryan Moraw, Edward Winn and Fred Tyng.
