Milton Tater passed away quietly in his sleep on Saturday the 6th of September 2025 at the age of 95. Emil Milton Tater was born on the 29th of September 1929 in Victoria County to Emil Joseph and Ludmilla "Emily" Machicek Tater.
Milton served his country honorably as a Marine, demonstrating strength and dedication to a cause greater than himself. Upon his honorable discharge, he started his career with the State Highway Department as a land surveyor. While in the Cotulla area working on the IH35 construction he met and fell in love with a Dairy Farmer’s daughter, Rosemary Carroll. After their marriage his work sent them to Calallen, TX for a short stint where they were blessed with twin girls-from there they settled in Inez, raising their five daughters. After his time with the Highway Department he continued his career with Balusek, Frankson and Associates as a land surveyor.
Milton was dedicated to his Catholic faith and the religious life. Teaching CCD for many years at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Inez.
He is survived by his daughters - Brenda Miller, and her children Katherine McGuire, Christopher (Aimee) Miller, and Charles Miller; Linda (WJ) Vincik, and their children Shelly (Arlan) Kraatz, Casey (Kimberly) Vincik, and Dennis Vincik; Elizabeth (Louis) Groth, and their children Jonathan (Katy) Groth, and Claudia (Troy) McGaugh; Mary Helen (Gary) Franz, and their children Rachel (Isaac) Villarreal, Jennifer
(Billy) Powell, Jessica Franz, Kevin (Jesica) Franz, Travis (Kelsey) Franz, and Bryan (Gaby) Franz; Mary Margaret Buckert, and son Allan Buckert; thirty great-grandchildren and a brother Benny Tater and his wife Josephine.
On the 8th of June 2023, Milton lost the love of his life Rosemary whom he shared sixty-six wonderful years together. He was also preceded in death by his parents, sister Margaret Wells and husband Jay; son-in-law Ron Miller and a granddaughter Julia Worsham.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family at St Joseph Catholic Church in Inez beginning at nine o’clock Thursday the 11th of September and the recitation of the Holy Rosary at half-past nine led by his daughters.
A Mass of Christian Burial is to be offered at ten o’clock followed by burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Milton’s grandsons; Jonathan Groth, Casey Vincik, Dennis Vincik, Kevin Franz, Travis Franz, Bryan Franz, Christopher Miller, Charles Miller and Allan Burkert.
The granddaughters Katherine McGuire, Shelly Kraatz, Claudia McGaugh, Rachel Villarreal, Jennifer Powell and Jessica Franz will drape the burial pall on the casket to signify Milton’s baptism.
