Nina Mae Delozier Burger, age 98, died on Saturday, May 10, 2025, surrounded by her children and their spouses. Nina was born at home on April 6, 1927, to Sylvia and Ralph Delozier in Adair, Oklahoma. She is preceded in death by her husband, Tuney Ray Eugene Burger, her parents, Ralph Adair Delozier and Sylvia Kilgore Delozier, sisters Joan Adair Delozier Rogers and Mattie Virgina Delozier Gunter, Nina is survived by her brother, J Edward Delozier of Chico, CA, daughter Jeanne Burger McCarroll and spouse, John of Pilot Point, TX, daughter Joanne Burger Culberson and spouse, Thomas of Victoria, TX, daughter Karen Burger McCarroll and spouse, James Dennis of Centerville, TX, son Steven Ray Burger and spouse Denise of Bixby, OK, 12 grandkids and 20 great grandkids.
Nina met the love of her life when they were 13 years old when Tuney moved to Adair. They were married on September 3, 1948, and they were married 61 years. They went on to have 4 children: Jeanne, Joanne, Karen, and Steven. After Nina and Tuney married she became a full-time mother, at which she excelled.
After their children left home, they started their own drilling consulting company in 1978 called Tuney Burger, Inc.. Nina and Tuney worked at the drilling company until finally retiring so that they could have more time to visit family and friends.
The pillar of Nina’s life was her family, and her biggest thrill was when they would come visit. Whenever you called her, she would always ask (almost immediately), “When are you coming to see me?” If you knew Nina, you would know this was not so much a request, as a directive. She wasn’t above letting people know that someone else had just visited her, or was visiting soon, invoking their competitive nature. She also kept a calendar on her fridge which listed who visited and when for all to see.
Nina loved her children, but more than anything, she loved her grandkids and would light up whenever she saw them. She loved every grandchild uniquely for the person they were and celebrated their differences. There was always something for the grandkids to do at Nina’s house, whether it was watching Wheel of Fortune and cartoons on tv, playing family games or hearing a bedtime story. Nina also loved to just sit with her family and watch the birds in her garden, and later in her kids’ gardens. She loved fiercely was fiercely loved by all knew her.
