Odelia R. Olivares, age 71, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025. Visitation will be held from 5pm to 7pm with rosary beginning at 7pm on Monday, June 2, 2025 at Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at 10am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with burial following at De La Garza Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are J.D. Linan, David Olivares III, Ely Olivares, Ryan Olivares, Raul Cornejo, Mateo Cornejo, Leticia Olivares Cornejo and Alex Vasquez.
Odelia was born February 3, 1954 in Robstown, Texas to the late Pedro and Ernestina Hernandez. She was one of 9 children. She was married to David Olivares for over 40 years. She lived in Alaska for 20 years and while in Alaska, she did bookkeeping for Kodiak Oil and Alaska Canneries. She really loved the outdoors, music, dancing and concerts. She enjoyed picking berries and making jams and jellies. She also liked to go halibut and salmon fishing and going on boat rides. She was a great cook. She loved her family and going to their events. She was a loving mother and grandmother and she will be deeply missed. She loved her children and grandchildren. They were the most important people in her life. She is survived by her children, David Olivares, Jr. and Daniel Linan II; father of her children, David Olivares; grandchildren, Devaughn Cornish, J.D. Linan, Leticia Cornejo, Raul Cornejo, Mateo Cornejo, David Olivares III, Ely Olivares, Ryan Olivares; great-grandchildren, Liam Linan, Presley Linan, Jonah Linan, Melah Cornish, Samiah Cornish. She is preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and Ernestina Ruiz; daughter, Ernestina Olivares Cornejo; and 8 siblings.
