Raymond Goode, Sr. was born to Daniel and Cresia Perkins Goode in Hallettsville, Texas on March 1, 1934. At an early age he accepted Christ in his life, baptized, attended, and taught Sunday school at the Eastside Church of God in Hallettsville, Texas. Throughout his life he read and taught the Bible to his wife, children, grandchildren, and all who would listen.
He proudly served in the United States Army from September 12, 1956 to August 31, 1962.
He met the love of his life Minnie Sylvia Hobbs and they were united in holy matrimony November 2, 1963. Of this union, three children were born.
He was a hard-working man supporting his family by working 10 years at both Zarsky Lumber Company and Safety Steel. Some of his passions were fishing, maintaining his yard, roses, and trees, and reminiscing the good times with his family. He gained his Heavenly wings on August 19, 2025. He leaves to cherish his memory with: wife, Minnie Goode; one daughter, Carolyn (Keith) Rucker; two sons, Raymond Goode, Jr. and James (Celia) Goode; two grandsons, Jeremy Rucker and Eric (Laura) Magana; two granddaughters, Brandi (Wilbert) Brinkley and Jacey Goode; four great grandchildren and one great granddaughter on the way; one brother Robert Goode, Sr.; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Daniel and Cresia Goode; five brothers, Curtis Sr., Joseph, Aaron, Willie, and Woodrow Wilson Goode; and three sisters, Rosetta Williams, Margaret Thornton, and Annie Mae Spencer.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025 from 5-7pm at Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 10am at Colonial Funeral Home, followed by military honors performed by the Victoria County Veterans Council. Burial will follow at Adams Branch Cemetery in Hallettsville.
