

Bob worked for the U.S. Postal Service before hiring-on in 1954 at Union Carbide from which he retired 40 years later.
He served in the National Guard, the Knights of Columbus and Serra Club.
Our Dad’s passion was working to preserve the historic land of his family located on the Fleming Prairie and San Antonio River Bottom of Victoria County.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Rea Finehout. Dad leaves behind his daughters, Virginia Ball, husband John, Susan Rather, husband Allen, Kathryn Swiedom, husband Brian; sons, Robert Johnston, wife Elizabeth; David Johnston; Patrick Johnston; granddaughters, Mary Kay Ball Bielamowicz (Justin), Clara Ball Wood (Michael), Casey Johnston, Jacquelyn Rather Connally (Trice), Amanda Demel, Sarah Demel, Meagan Johnston Cunningham (Sean), Madelyn Rather, Katelyn Rather, Elizabeth Demel; grandsons, John Robert Ball, Shay Johnston (Hanna), Michael Demel, David Travis Johnston; three great granddaughters and six great grandsons; brothers, Harold Johnston and Thomas Johnston, wife Avis; many nieces and nephews; and Shane, Gina, Jake, Mariah, Alexa, Gianna Morris.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife and our dear Mother, Mary Jo Riley Johnston; daughter-in-law, Leticia Johnston; and sister-in-law, Melba Johnston.
A rosary will be recited 7:00 PM, Friday, April 24, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Deacon Jim Koenig officiating. The Funeral Mass will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 25, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. Gabriel Mensah officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robert Johnston, David Johnston, Patrick Johnston, John Robert Ball, Shay Johnston, David Travis Johnston and Michael Demel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or Nazareth Academy.
