Roger Dale Cheney (67) and Cynthia Marie Cheney (64) of Inez, TX received their wings on Saturday, March 11, 2017, along with their beloved cocker spaniel, Brian. Roger and Cynthia were married for 49 years. They enjoyed camping and traveling with friends. They loved following and cheering on their Texas A&M Aggies.
Roger was born April 20, 1949 in Victoria, TX. He was the son of the late Tom Dick Cheney and the late Gladys Maxey Cheney. He dedicated his life to the oil and gas industry and retired from Baker Hughes. His brother, Kenneth Wayne Cheney who was a resident in TN, preceded Roger in death.
Cynthia was born on August 28, 1952 in Victoria, TX to Lucille Scherlen Lee and the late John F. Lee. She was the sister to Pam Lee Gray and the late Larry Gene Barnett. She was a principal’s secretary in the VISD and retired with the Fort Bend County school district after 25 years.
Roger and Cynthia were the parents to son, Jeffery Dale Cheney and his wife, Lisa Elisha Cheney of Rockport, TX, and daughter, Kimberly Ann Cheney of Cuero. Together they had six grandchildren: Brittni Cheney Sosa, Austin Baylie Cheney, Austin Richard Krueger, Benjamin Alexander Bolting, Jessica Morgan Richards, Jordan Lindsey Sheffield, and one great grandchild, Kade James Perkins.
Roger and Cynthia were full of life and were always on the go. Roger was known as Jack-of-all-trades the real do it yourself type of guy who had green thumb. Cynthia never met a stranger and had a laugh that was contagious and who was also known across the South for her pies and sausage bread. They cherished their friends and family. They traveled across the South to support their grandchildren in their sporting events. They loved spending weekends on the water with their son and daughter-law competing in fishing tournaments and traveling to the Colorado Mountains with friends. Even though they were brought home too early, their lives were filled with love, joy and people who cherished and loved them both.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 2:00 pm followed by a memorial service at 2:00 pm on Thursday March 23, 2017 at the Rosewood Funeral Chapels in Victoria Texas.
