Ronald Eugene Butschek

Ronald Eugene “Doc” Butschek Sr., age 74, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026. Born in Houston, TX to Robert “Bob” Butschek and Lorraine Mikulenka in 1951, his childhood was split between the busy city and quiet countryside. While mischievous in his youth, Doc eventually matured and worked for Southwestern Bell/AT&T for many years before retiring to his parents’ hometown of Hallettsville. He was an avid outdoorsman often enjoying trips to the river, the beach, or offshore fishing. He loved sitting for a cup of coffee or a beer with friends and sharing the latest gossip. Doc was a man of routine, reliability, and care, and his memory will be cherished.

He is survived by his spouse, Tanya Butschek; children, Christina Nelson, Ronald Butschek Jr., Ashley Butschek-Hernandez, Alexandria Stanaback, and Ariel Walker; brother, Wayne Butschek; sister, Karen Jansky; nine nieces and nephews; and six grandchildren.

He is preceded by his parents and brother, Robert "Bobby" Jr.
