Roy Lester Pickens

Roy Lester Pickens was born on February 23, 1953, the third son to Willie C. Pickens Sr. and Lorraine Lewis Pickens. Roy was called home to be with the Lord on Friday morning, November 11, 2011. Roy accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Little Zion Baptist Church of Cuero, TX.

He is a 1971 graduate of Cuero High School. After graduation, he worked at Timco Industries in Cuero. He lived in Austin for a short time before moving back to Cuero. He attended Victoria College. He later moved to Victoria and called it his home. While in union with Gloria (Pickens) Cunningham three daughters were born. He was employed at Dow (Union Carbide) as a Director of Site Logistics and Analytical at his demise.

God has blessed him with his parents, 3 daughters, Aronya Pickens and Tasha Pickens of Victoria, TX and Raven Pickens of Pearland, TX; 2 grandchildren, Kianna Pickens and Jayden Pickens-Hopkins; 3 brothers, Willie Jr. (deceased) , Joe (Joice) and Gary Pickens of Dallas, TX; the mother of his children, Gloria (Pickens) Cunningham and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2011from 6-8 PM at Rosewood Funeral Chapel. The Funeral service will be on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 11 AM at the First Baptist Church, at 408 N. Gonzales Street in Cuero with the Rev. A. L. Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.

Roy was a hard working, loving, caring and kind man that loved his family very much. He was always there at their beckoning call. He will be greatly missed. His spirit will forever live in the hearts of those that knew him and loved him.
