

Sallie Bess Tate Beyer, 83, of Victoria, Texas, passed away on Monday, May 14, 2012. She was born in Columbia, Missouri, on February 4, 1929, to the late J. C. and Bessie (Moore) Jones. Sallie was raised in the small community of Wrightsboro in Gonzales County. She has been a resident of Victoria since 1947.
Mrs. Beyer was an active member of Northside Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and served as director of the WMU. Sallied served and held office in many organizations, including being a lifetime member of the Texas PTA, American Cancer Society education chairman, chaplain of the Guadalupe NSDAR, president of the Morning Study Club, board member of the Women’s Club House, a volunteer for Citizens Medical Center, and a member for over 50 years of the Gonzales county Eastern Star.
Family was very dear to Sallie, and she devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members, including her mother until she passed away at age 73.
Sallie is survived by her only son, Robert C. Tate and wife, Veronica; two grandsons, Brian Tate and wife, Danielle, and Brad Tate and wife, Lyndsey; four great-grandchildren, Ethan, Charis, Brielle and Cosette Tate; three step-children, Trudy Derrick and husband, Joe, Roy D. Beyer and wife, Clyde Ruth, and Byron Beyer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Robert E. Tate Jr. (d. 1995) and Roy E. Beyer (d. 2011).
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, from 5 – 7 pm at Rosewood Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10 am Thursday, May 17, 2012, at Rosewood Funeral Chapel, Rev. Mickey Ewing officiating. Interment will take place at the Wrightsboro Cemetery at 2 pm.
Pallbearers will be Brian Tate, Brad Tate, Elliott Costas, Joe Hollan, Bobby Carr and James Lindsey.
Memorial donations may be made to Northside Baptist Church or Hospice of South Texas.
