The service yesterday was just right for the little lady my family called Aunt Jane.  I had lots of aunts growing up but until I married into this family, I realized I had never had an aunt like Jane.  She came to visit fairly regularly and even brought Mack with her on occasion.  It never failed but those visits were always when I had a 1000 things to do but when she rang the doorbell, I had to lay them all aside and sit and visit.  As I look back now, those 1000 things I can't remember a one and I'm sure they all got done but what I do remember are the visits.  I'm so glad she went out of her way to stop by.  
And yes the cards for all occasions we all grew to expect with her added touches to the printed cards...like "To my dearest niece".  It took me a few years to realize she wrote that in all of the cards she sent to her nieces but for some reason it still made me feel special when I got my cards.  
Visiting Jane at Trinity Shores I will always treasure.  I pretty much asked her the same questions when I would go to see her...How are you?  Are they treating you ok?  Have you had visitors? And I pretty much got the same answers each time, "Yes" but the most special part of the visit was right before I would leave, I would take her hand and she and I would go before the Lord and ask Him for her safe keeping and care.  I no longer have to consider her care because she is in her Savior's presence for eternity and rejoicing with the angels in Glory.  Thank you, Lord for sharing Aunt Jane with me and the memories she made in my life.

After getting the phone call about aunt Jane, I pulled out my memory box and started searching for all the things I have that she has sent to me over the years. Started to all bring back memories of Jane. Back when I was really young, don't remember how old but I was old enough to ride a bike. My dad sisters and I were at her house. My dad was there fixing something for her. My sisters and I were riding our bikes and they were taking their bikes down the hill towards the river and I wanted to do the same. Except I didn't know how to stop fast enough so I ended up in the river not able to swim so my dad rushed down to jump in and save me. I remember all the Christmas' and Jane always went first because she was the oldest. We all dreaded it because she would carefully open each and every gift so to not rip the paper and she took forever. Us being young kids, we always grew impatient. One family function someone had a wig out and people were putting it on, well me being me I ran over and put it on Janes head and luckily someone had a camera ready and I have that picture with me today. I can remember taking our jet ski to her house to go knee boarding in the river every summer, she really did enjoy seeing us and being around her. She never forgot my birthday or any special event that happened in my life. I have many of the cards she sent with all her special little notes to me. She loved to travel, she has been all over the world, and she always sent back a post card. Even when I was in college I would get post cards from her and was always really neat to see where she was and what she was experiencing. It hit me as I was reading back through and finding these post cards that I really do believe she was the one that gave me that travel bug. I got to visit with her quite a bit during her stay at Trinity Shores and as the years went by I could see her age taking over, but no matter if she was in pain or not happy about something she always seemed to be able to put a smile on her face, a real genuine smile and many times she would shed a tear when it was time for me to go. When Harvey came and she had to be relocated closer to Sugar Land, I never got to see her again and I should have made the time to stop by and visit, but I never did. She was a lady of few words but I really do feel she left an impact on mine and others lives. An impact that we may have not noticed until now or in the future when that card doesn't come in the mail or won't be able to walk in and see her smile. She will be missed, love you Aunt Jane
