Thomas Mark Meador, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, peacefully passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2025, and entered the presence of his Heavenly Father. Tom was born on June 18, 1947, in Lubbock, Texas, to Earl and Oletha Meador. He was a longtime resident of Victoria and was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Gary; his wife, Lynn Meador; and his youngest daughter, Tyler Simpson.
Tom proudly served his country in the United States Army and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea). He was deeply proud to be an American and instilled a strong sense of patriotism in his children and grandchildren. Tom began his career as a court reporter in Decatur, Alabama, and later accepted a position with the 135th District Court, which serves six counties in the Victoria area. Over the sixteen years of service, Tom’s friendly, good-natured disposition enabled him to establish many lasting friendships.
Outside of his career, Tom was an active member of Northside Baptist Church, where he served on several committees and volunteered in children’s ministry. His most active role, however, was as a member of the church choir. During the years Northside Baptist Church performed Christmas pageants, Tom was featured in various roles that highlighted his playful personality and smooth voice. In Tom’s later years, he was a member of the Fellowship of the Crossroads, where most of his grandchildren attended.
Tom’s most cherished roles were those of husband, father, and grandfather. He married his wife, Lynn, on September 1, 1967, and they shared 55 years of marriage. Together, they had three children: Tiffany, Timothy, and Tyler. Tom was actively involved in his children’s lives by volunteer coaching baseball and softball, proudly supporting band, cheer, and the Victoriadores, and always being present to offer guidance and wisdom, even up until his passing.
Tom’s greatest joy was being a grandfather, lovingly known as “DeeDaw.” DeeDaw treasured time spent with Tanner, Logan, Olivia, Trevor, Emma, Sydney, and Peyton. When his grandchildren were babies, they could often be found sweetly sleeping on DeeDaw. As they grew older, he could be found cheering at their games, attending special events, or being just a phone call away whenever they needed him. DeeDaw’s favorite thing was simply being with family. At family gatherings, he could be seen smiling and laughing, floating in the pool, or sitting by the outdoor fire, even in July. As long as his family was near, he was happy. He was well known for his phrases, “I’ll tell you what,” when offering his opinion, and “It is what it is,” when facing situations. DeeDaw was incredibly proud of his family and treasured watching it grow. The importance he placed on family is what will be most remembered, and his presence will be deeply missed.
One of Tom’s favorite scriptures was Ephesians 6:10: “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.” He relied heavily on this verse toward the end of his life as he faced medical complications.
Tom will be greatly missed by his daughter, Tiffany M. (Todd) Jaksch of Round Rock, Texas; his son, Timothy M. (Natalie) Meador of Victoria, Texas; his son-in-law, Calvin Simpson of Victoria, Texas; his seven grandchildren; his two granddaughters-in-law, Kailee Jaksch and Kate Meador; his brother, Don (Julia) Meador of Lubbock, Texas; his sister, Patsy (Dale) of Lubbock, Texas; and his nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation services will be held on Saturday, December 27, 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Rosewood Funeral Home, and the service will be held on Sunday, December 28, at 3:00 at Fellowship of the Crossroads Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Fellowship of the Crossroads, 597 Haynes Road, Victoria, Texas 77904, or in his name to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, www.t2t.org/donate/
