

Velma was preceded in death by her husband Major Felix Lamar Duke USAF (Ret.), her son, Lt.Col. Paul Lamar Duke, USAF (Ret.), her parents, one sister, Frances Moody, and two brothers, Kenneth Kennerly and John Kennerly.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda (Ardeen) Urbantke of Round Rock, Donna (Jim) Kiening of Victoria, one brother, James Kennerly of Victoria. She is also survived by seven grand children Garrett (Rebekah) Duke, Meredith (Fabian) Berrego, Patrick Guidry, Robin(Andrew) Allen, James (Sandra) Kiening , Jennifer (Vidal Guevara) Kiening, Nathan Kiening and 18 great grandchildren
Velma was raised in Kingsville, Texas, and graduated from H.M. King High School. She married Felix "Curley" Duke in June of 1944 and became an Air Force wife for the next twenty one years. They had 3 children and traveled much of the world during their 39 years of marriage. They retired in Corpus Christi, Texas, and resided there until Curley's death.
A memorial service will be held for Velma Saturday, May 5, 2012, at 11am at the First United Methodist Church in Victoria.
The family would like to thank Director Betty Sievers and the staff of Clare Bridge Residence for the excellent care of their mother and grandmother for the past eight years.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
