

He is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Sexton Jordan (Kevin) and son, Kenneth Meyer Sexton (Traci) of Victoria; grandchildren, Erin Clodfelter, Sage Sexton, Christopher Jordan (Leslie), Katherine Jordan, Shelby Swoboda, Zach Swoboda; and great-granddaughter, Delila Thompson.
Lefty is preceded in death by his wife, LuBeth Sexton; his parents; brother, Floyd Melvin “Billy” Sexton, and sister, Juanita Ousley.
Lefty graduated from Karnes City High School, Texas State University with a B.A. in Education, and Prairie View A&M University with an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction. He began his teaching career in Victoria with Victoria Independent School District at Patti Welder Junior High School as an Industrial Arts Teacher. Lefty transferred to Victoria High School as the Industrial Cooperative Training Coordinator. He also served as the Vocational Education Director for VISD. From the late 1960s to his retirement in 1997, Lefty served as the VISD Plant and Maintenance Director.
On February 20, 1960, LuBeth and Lefty married in Karnes City, Texas. They moved to Victoria and Lefty began his career with VISD. As an Industrial Arts Teacher, Lefty’s students earned numerous awards for their woodworking projects throughout the years. His commitment to education earned him the Outstanding Vocational Arts and Industrial Arts Teacher in Texas. He was also a member of the IOTA LAMBDA SIGMA Honorary Fraternity. He developed lasting relationships with his students especially George Velasquez, Sammy Dunseth and Tommy Jordan. Prior to Lefty’s career with VISD, he served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.
He was active in the Suburban Kiwanis Club and served as a Past President. Lefty’s hobbies included deer hunting, skeet-shooting at his Morales place, and small building projects. He coached Little League Baseball for many years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Victoria.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, February 8, 2017 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Rosewood Funeral Chapels.
A funeral service with military honors will be on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 10 AM at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Tim Brewer officiating.
Graveside services will be Friday, February 10, 2017 at 11 AM at Rutersville Cemetery with Pastor Larry Green officiating.
Pallbearers will be Joe Cohen, Lee Roy Menning, Jim Stokes, Jim Kiening, Mitchell Michalka, Eddie Wearden, Kenneth Pearce, Carl Koch, Sammy Dunseth, and George Velasquez.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of South Texas, 605 E. Locust, Victoria, Texas, 77901 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
