

Walter Marcus Gentry, age 77, passed away Monday, October 1, 2012. He was born January 28, 1935, in Victoria to the late Walter D. and Selma Guenther Gentry. Walt was a lifetime resident of Victoria and a member of First Baptist Church.
Walt graduated from Patti Welder High School in 1952. He started work at DuPont the same year working as a mail runner. He became a buyer and then moved to Contract Management where he retired in 1993 with 41 years of service.
Walt loved to hunt and fish. His favorite spots were the pier and front porch swing in Port Alto. He spent many hours there talking about his favorite fishing holes. If he wasn’t on the porch, he was riding around in his golf cart getting the latest fishing stories from neighbors. He was an expert on antique cars and motorcycles. In his younger years, he and his brothers raced motorcycles. At church his oldest sister played the piano while Walt and the rest of his siblings sang along in harmony.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Rosetta; daughter, Theresa Stuteville and husband, Greg of Colleyville; son, Marc Gentry and wife, Tammie of Clear Lake; step-daughter, Amy Urban and husband, Michael of Victoria; step-son, Thomas Stubbs of Victoria; grandchildren, Rachel Stuteville and Kate Stuteville of Colleyville, Melody Yeatts and husband, Jeremy of Pearland, and Hailey and Avery Urban of Victoria; great-grandchild, Alexis Yeatts of Pearland; sister, Etta Lou Champagne of Seguin; brother, Kenneth Gentry of Meyersville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Frieda O’Hara; brother, Lee Roy Gentry; and half-brother, Eddie Gentry.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Thursday, October 4, 2012, at Rosewood Funeral Chapels.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Friday, October 5, 2012, at Rosewood Funeral Chapels, Rev. Jim Shamburger officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be nephews: Kyle (Bimbo) Champagne, Keith Champagne, Perry Gentry, Gary O’Hara, Glen Gentry and Travis Bryant.
