William F. Roell, 70, of Victoria, passed away July 24, 2024, after a long battle with his health. William, fondly known as Bill, was born November 2, 1953, in Victoria to the late Dorothy Lesak and Henry A. Roell.
Bill held many titles in his life, from football player to family man. After graduating from Victoria High School in 1972, he went on to study at Victoria College and later obtained a degree in electrical engineering. In 1977, Bill met Roselyn through mutual friends. They enjoyed many evenings dancing at Sun Valley Ranch where he taught her how to polka, waltz, and two-step. They married in 1980 and went on to have four children. He loved spending time with his children and they will forever treasure memories made with their dad.
For nearly three decades, he dedicated his career to Central Power and Light until its closure in 2002. Subsequently, he worked at Home Depot for nearly 20 years as a Tool Rental technician and manager. In 2022, he retired to focus on spending quality time at home with his wife and working on home improvement projects.
While Bill was a hardworking man, he still found time to engage in a variety of hobbies. He enjoyed fixing cars and computers, working in the yard, building things, and cooking. He was constantly tinkering with various projects and striving to improve things. As the leader and protector, Bill made extraordinary efforts to ensure his family was well taken care of.
Bill enjoyed talking to people and he liked to make people smile. While some might say he was a “trouble-maker,” he used his humor to put people at ease. Bill was reliable, compassionate, and supportive, willing to tackle any task no matter how small. He was always there when someone needed help.
Bill faced numerous health challenges over the years. Despite spending time in and out of the hospital, his sense of humor remained intact. He continued to share jokes with his grown children, goof around with his grandchildren, and banter with the nurses. He had a great ability to make others smile and his sense of humor will be missed. His talent for bringing smiles to others will be fondly remembered.
Bill, affectionately known as PawPaw, showered attention on his three granddaughters. He attended many birthday parties and dance recitals and found joy in simply playing with them. His grandchildren loved spending time with their PawPaw and will deeply miss him.
Bill is survived by his wife, Roselyn Roell; daughter, Ashley Williams and husband, Brian of Victoria; sons, Aaron Roell of Austin, Tyler Roell of Victoria, Travis Roell of Austin; sisters, Debbie Wilson and husband, Charlie of Lake Jackson, Susie Nevlud of Victoria; brother, Ricky Roell and wife Vickie of Anna, TX and his 3 granddaughters, Alaina, Amelia, and Alivia Williams.
