

Willie June Lewis, 91, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2017. She was born in Port Arthur, Texas on April 10, 1926 to Erney John Hunt and Leona Catherine Murphy. She was a homemaker when the children were young. She landscaped a bare acre of land with splendid flowerbeds, fish ponds and terraces. Later she worked for Better Homes and Gardens as a bookkeeper, then as a sales associate. In 1947 she married Charles Raymond Lewis at St. James Catholic Church in Port Arthur. They moved to Victoria in 1949 and raised their 4 children. Her youngest son, Mark Thomas Lewis was born with debilitating handicaps and she dedicated her life to caring for him until he passed away in 1999.
In later years she and Charlie spent many happy days in Port O’Connor, where they built a vacation home. She was a devout Catholic and sent her children to Catholic schools. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church and later a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She lost Charlie in 2002 and then moved to Copperfield Village where she made many friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Donna Raye Chenault of Houston and Della Jan Wilson of Austin; son, George David Lewis of Victoria, who cared for her in her later years; grandchildren, Daniel Wilson, Adam Wilson and Rebecca Wilson; great grandchildren, Whalyn Wilson, Olive Wilson, Joseph Wilson and Dylan Wilson, all of Austin; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charlie; brother, Murph Hunt; and son, Mark.
Memorial donations may be made to Christ’s Kitchen.Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 am on Friday, December 1, 2017 at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
