Wilma Jean Chapman Turner of Victoria, TX, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2011, just two and a half months before her 90th birthday, with her son, Jack R. Chapman Jr., and daughter-in-law Ruth Ann Chapman by her side.
Jean was the widow of Jack R. Chapman Sr. of Pratt, KN, and Charles Turner of Victoria, TX. Born January 22, 1922, in Geneva, NE, to Charles and Evangeline Jones DeLay, she spent the best years of her life traveling the world with Jack, who worked for Procon, Inc. They lived in 6 different countries and 33 states, which included travels to London, Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Puerto Rico, Newfoundland, Japan, Taiwan, Bangkok, Borneo and Jerusalem.
In addition to her husbands (twice blessed as she often said), she was predeceased by her three older siblings, Flossie Mae, DeVert Howard, and Theodore Glenn, and her eldest son, Thomas Jerome Chapman (last October).
She is survived by her son, Jack R. Chapman (Ruth Ann) of Buffalo, NY; grandsons Darren P. Chapman (Jennifer) of Portland, TX; and Scott D. Chapman (Meghan) of Rochester, NY; and great-grandson J. Chance Chapman. Jean is also survived by stepson Mark Turner (Ann) of Houston, TX, and three step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
She led an enviable, well-traveled life and her witty humor and countless stories will be missed by all. The family especially wants to thank Hospice of South Texas and Clara Prater of Just Like Home for all of their love and care over the last several months.
Private Services will be held by the Family.
