

Cynthia “Cyn Cyn” Mapps, 66, of Apple Valley, California, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on June 9, 1959, in Los Angeles, she was the beloved daughter of the late Ora Sue Harris and Melvin Mapps Sr. Cynthia’s life was defined by faith, laughter, and unconditional love for her family and community.
A proud graduate with a bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting, Cynthia built an impactful career in higher education as a Director of Finance. She devoted her life to empowering others, encouraging youth along their educational paths, and helping many achieve success in college and beyond. On March 22, 1986, she married Minister Rudy McCoy, later remarrying, and remained a devoted mother and steadfast matriarch to her daughters Erica Carr and Dr. Stefani Bralock McCoy.
Cynthia’s vibrant spirit lit every room; her comedic personality and big heart made her unforgettable. She loved traveling, gardening, cooking, family gatherings, and proudly cheering for her grandchildren’s sports events. She is also survived by her brothers Melvin Mapps Jr., Tony Williams, her grandchildren Emery, Quinn and Norie, her children-in-law, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and countless loved ones whose lives she touched deeply.
A celebration of Cynthia’s life will be held Tuesday, December 9 at 11:00 a.m. at Desert View Memorial Park, Victorville, followed by a reception. Her wish for cremation and burial at sea will unite her once more with her mother.
