

Don was predeceased by his parents John and Agnes Callahan and brothers Jack and Russell.
Don was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He attended St. Theodore’s elementary school and Lindblom Technical High School. Don served in the US Army from 1961-1967 and received a BA in British Literature and History from University of Illinois, a BA in Philosophy from St. Albert’s College, and an MA in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling from Santa Clara University. Always a lifetime learner, Don completed a Ph.D. in Psychology from California Coast University in 2011.
Don’s passion in life was helping others. He worked for various social services agencies, including Lutheran Social Services, Madison, WI, Department of Family Guidance of Bergen County in New Jersey and San Bernardino County Child and Adult Protective Services.
Don enjoyed rooting for his beloved New York Yankees, reading, long distance running and spending time with his family. He cherished his relationships with friends, and he made a difference in the lives of all who knew him.
Don is survived by his wife of 35 years, Susan Levine, and sons Joshua (Katie) and Matthew (Michelle). He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A special thanks to Don’s amazing caregivers, Mina, Elizabeth and Carlos, who cared for him and became part of our family.
