

George Lyle Roberts – Chief Master Sergeant, United States Air Force (Retired), 89, of Victorville California, passed away quietly in his home after a prolonged illness on the morning of April 25, 2018.
Visitation will be from 4 PM till 8 PM on Tuesday, May 8th at Desert View Memorial Park in Victorville California. (11478 Amargosa Rd., Victorville, CA 92392)
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 A.M. at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Apple Valley (15757 St. Timothy Rd. Apple Valley, CA 92307) with the Father John Limo, officiating. Interment will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona (23029 Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ 85024)
Arrangements are by Desert View Memorial Park in California coordinating with Shadow Mountain Mortuary (2350 E Greenway Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85022) in Arizona.
Chief Roberts was born in Wyandotte Michigan to Richard and Elizabeth Roberts on January 8, 1929. He graduated from Roosevelt High school in Wyandotte in 1947 and joined the United States Air Force in September 1950. Chief Roberts met Jerusha Wareham – the love of his life – on May 28 1948 and married her November 8, 1952.
He served in the United States Air Force as a Security and Air Policeman with great distinction for twenty-nine years covering two wars including one tour in Viet Nam for which he was awarded the Bronze Star and the unwavering admiration of the officers he served and the men he lead. His other awards include: Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Force Protection Badge for the Special Investigations Career Group.
Chief Roberts transitioned into civilian life with a thirty-year career in real estate, most notable with Shear and Associates.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Elizabeth Roberts; his Brother Lawrence Roberts; his sisters Drusilla Barns and Ruth Paone.
George is survived by his wife and love of his life, Jerusha Roberts; his children; Myra Jane White, Pamela Louise Caldwell and George Roberts Jr; his grandchildren; Michael Christopher Szymanski, Grace Elizabeth White and Tyler Roberts Conti and his great grandsons Rylan Roberts Szymanski and Daniel Donald Szymanski. And his sister Edith Stephens.
Memorials may be given to St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in George’s name in lieu of flowers.
The Roberts family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the entire staff of United Hospice and Desert Sky Home Health both located in Victorville California for the gracious and compassionate treatment and services they provided both George and Jerusha over the course of George’s illness.
We also extend our deepest appreciation to our large family of friends that have been so supportive, not just during these most challenging of times, but throughout the entirety of our lives.
