John was honorably discharged from the US Navy on May 18, 1969, after ten years of service.

A Military Service with honors was held for John on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery in Igo, Shasta County, California. There John’s body will rest and await the return of Christ.
