When I went to South Gate high school of middle of 10th grade. I got a choir class and went in and Mr Waddell ask if I sang alto or soprano. I did not know because I only song in the congregation at church. So I just said alto. Ok so I sang with the altos and Kitten laugh so hard and Mr Waddell put me in the sopranos area. I was a soprano not alto. I sat next to kitten and we were friends ever since. We text a week before she left this world to see Jesus. During the years we keep in contact with each other for 60 years. She true was my sister. Love and miss her. 
Also we always eat in the choir room at lunch time. Kitten, Vera and I and all our other friends. One day Vera was eating on the piano and Mr Waddell has cross words for Vera. We don’t eat on the piano. She apologized and Vera and all of us would polish the piano ever day and have it shining. Never put food on it again. Miss the good old days. My mother and I remember together; this is part two.

... looked like or herself loved besides my mom and surely her own family, everything a person always loves. Kit was the person so precious my mom told things to, shared life with from the distance that had to be there. "Kit wants to know ..." and "I'm going to tell Kit..." were things I heard so often.

Without sight or any words of vision, I can share the Kit-shaped hole. I feel its edges, I know and grieve its cost. I know Kit by who loves her, and how much they do. How much Kit mattered, even if this was so hidden, so very hard for nearly anyone to 'see'. Oh, so precious are people. Oh, I cherish my mother's best friend.

This is my clearest memory of Kit. I returned to where my mother lives, and I walk into the kitchen, a room my mother so often is in. She's on the phone with Kit, as she so often is. And speakerphone; I get to hear Kit again; that's an again and I remember Kit's voice. And I get to say to her, "Thank you for being my Mom's best friend. You're incredibly special to her, and I love you both for that."

That's what I 'see', and the picture I wish I could share here, but how can one make a picture of that?

But, because pictures, and video. And in honor of all special and unique differences known and not. I offer this too, another oblique world-view into the friendship my mother had with Kit. Such incredible people, I love them all.

My mother tells me that she and Kit have a name together, "Syme. Which was a very closeness that they had with each other." What I read into it, probably from Kit; Siamese twins, her and my mother, each to each other even separate bodies. Syme - me who is Siamese with another. And my mother's maiden name, and both of them, 'me'. A glimpse into the mental world Kit shares with my mother; she could reach there and be my mother's best friend in a way incredible few have. As they both "Play it Safe", beloved wonderful people.

A picture too hard to see, a person beloved and uniquely remembered.

I've known of Kit for decades; I for sure met her once, almost a decade ago. I have no clear visual memory and I took no pictures. I was legally blind for more than a tenth of my own life, so what's seen doesn't mean much to me.

I hear about Kit incredibly often. Kit is my mother's best friend. That Kit has died cannot change that, 'best friend' is a lived fact and it doesn't stop because someone has died. My mom is invisibly disabled, she can see but her ability to track certain types of information is uniquely challenged.

Kit is the one person my mother often talked to daily, sometimes for hours. They shared whatever they chose to speak of. My mother loves many precious people and has many close friends. One is my sister by choice; my beloved mother chooses to call Denise also her daughter. This is as precious to me as my mother is precious to me; people are love when they love. And only one best friend have I ever heard my mother speak of, though she tells me of many very close friends and incredible people.

If I could I would show you Kit through my mother's mind. Not necessarily her eyes, for Kit moved far from where she'd met my mother and they visited in voice and spirit for so many years. I am not visual for all I can see; I have no idea what value to place on the visual memory my mother has of Kit. But I can tell you, though my mother is unique in how she remembers so we cannot say so easily what Kit herself loved best; what favorite flower or most-liked animal, what favorite food or favorite place to go.

That's just a memory issue, my mom is uniquely disabled. My mom lived for decades with Kit as a major presence in her mind, interacting with Kit most days. I heard Kit's name from my mom nearly every time I spoke with my mom; in recent years we talk almost every day.

I can't tell you anything about what Kit ...

This was the last time I saw my Kk. She loved me so much and I cherished her. I'll miss her swaying hugs, her infectious laugh, and her unwavering kindness for the rest of my life.
