Leon Clifford Hill Jr. born November 2, 1950 to Leon Clifford Hill Sr. and Elma Gordon Hill of Kansas City Missouri. Leon married the love of his life, Irene (Jordan) Hill of Sacramento, California, February 1, 1970. To this union was born 3 children; Leona Cherrise (Howard) Hill (Michael Howard) husband of Santa Clarita, California; Lauren Cherverne Hill, of Sylmar, California; and Leon Clifford Hill III (Shaedi Huber) of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Leon was a faithful member of the Valencia Christian Center. Leon and his wife drove faithfully from San Bernardino to Santa Clarita for church for almost 7 years. He loved his family; wife and children, his pastor (Marlon Sanders) and church family. But most of all he loved His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with all his heart and soul.
Leon retired from the Metro Transit Authority (MTA) in 1999 after 23 years of service. Although the distance Leon lived from his church prevented him from joining the church choir…singing was his passion! He had many accolades and awards for his beautiful singing voice. He and his group, “The Total Eclipse” won first place on the 70’s game show, “The Gong Show”.
In his early years, Leon was very athletic. He won many awards for track and field, and he graduated at the top of his class from Southeast High School of Kansas City, Missouri in 1968. Leon served in the United States Airforce for 4 years, and he was a Vietnam Veteran.
Leon was loved by many. He leaves to mourn; his mother, Elma G. Hill (97), his sister, Pamela Richards (Danny Richards) of Vallejo, California; brothers, Luther Hill of Las Vegas, Nevada, Kenneth Gordon, of Kansas City, Missouri; son, Carl Brown of Muncie Indiana; aunts, Sophronia Parker, Etta Johnson (beloved of Leon) of Los Angeles, California; 7 grandchildren, Elanete Tomar Howard, Mykal-Michele Howard, Ayellad Gallete Howard, Jacob Rubino, Austin Rubino, Kruz Anthony Brown, and Leah Skye Hill. Along with a host of relatives, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
May God’s love and mercy, which was shared through His servant, shine through everyone he loved.
God Bless your soul…I will always have you in my heart…Love of my life…Irene.
