

Mike was born on Dec 3, 1957 in Long Beach California to his parents Bill and Paula Mestas, and grew up in Anderson California. In 1975 he joined the U.S. Air Force, where he served at Ramstein AB in Germany and George AFB in California. After serving over 6 years and being honorably discharged, Mike resided in the High Desert where he worked in real estate, property management, and taught a real estate course at Victor Valley College. He then went on to get his Flooring Contractors License and started his own flooring installation business. He owned and operated his business for over 30 years.
Mike’s hobbies included bowling, hunting, and cooking to name a few. He enjoyed spending time with his family and pups, and always looked forward to seeing his friends at his local VFW.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents Bill Mestas and Paula (Mestas) Burton, his life partner of over 30 years Fern Newland, son Michael J Mestas, daughter-in-law Candyce Newland, and grandson Jacob Newland.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Craig and Daniela Mestas, stepdaughters Senice Witt, Krista Fronek, and Holly Larison; stepson Jerry Newland; sons-in-law Timothy Witt and Shawn Larison; grandchildren Jaidynn Mestas, Eliana Mestas, Ariana Mestas, Brandon Craig, Ryan Dodds, Madison Dodds, Tyler Ishman, Brian Fronek, Halie Ortega, Dillon Ishman, Lane Newland, and great-grandsons Grayson Craig, Sutton Dodds, Sloan Dodds, and Swade Dodds. His is also survived by Godparents Ben Mestas and Frances O’Malley, and siblings Greg Mestas, Bill Mestas, Charlie Burton, Steven Burton, and Michelle Hudson. He is also survived by many uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Mike will always be remembered for his patriotism, generosity, and humor. He loved his family and friends with all of his heart. We will miss the love he gave, stories he shared, and the joy and laughter he brought into our lives. We love you and you will be forever in our hearts.
Services will be held at Riverside National Cemetery on Dec 3, 2025 at 11:30am, followed by a get together to be held at the Phelan VFW Post 9415 at 2pm.
