It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Miriam Castanon, born on February 20, 1979, in Puebla, Mexico.
Miriam was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and godmother whose presence filled every room with energy, laughter, and unmistakable personality. She lived life boldly and authentically—never holding back, always speaking her mind, and leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met.
She was wild, dramatic, witty, and full of life. She was the life of the party, someone who could turn even an ordinary moment into something unforgettable. She was known for her strong opinions, playful arguments, and stubborn spirit—always convinced she was right, and often making sure everyone else knew it too. Yet beneath that fiery personality was a deeply loving and loyal heart.
Miriam shared a lifelong love with her husband, Luis, her high school sweetheart. Their relationship was filled with humor, teasing, and enduring devotion. She also deeply loved her siblings—her older brother Carlos and younger sister Dulce—always finding ways to joke with them and keep them close through laughter.
Miriam was a devoted mother to her sons, Luis Jr. and Jose, whom she loved beyond measure. She was also a proud and loving grandmother to her grandson, Joseph, who brought immense joy to her life. She was filled with excitement and love for her grandson Joshua, who is on his way and already deeply cherished.
She worked hard as a truck driver, living with strength, independence, and determination. Throughout her life, she faced many health challenges, and later battled cancer with incredible courage and resilience. She fought hard and stayed strong for as long as she could, holding on for the people she loved most.
Miriam was artistic and loved to draw, expressing her creativity and emotions through her artwork. She loved to travel, especially enjoying cruises where she could relax, laugh, and take in new experiences. She had a unique and bold style—she loved the color black, was drawn to skull designs, and carried herself with striking beauty and confidence.
She also had a very special sense of humor when it came to movies. She loved watching “so bad they’re good” films—especially cult-style comedies like Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, Attack of the Killer Donuts, and I Am Here… Now—finding joy in their over-the-top acting, unusual plots, and unforgettable absurdity. She found laughter in the unexpected, and that joy reflected her spirit.
Miriam is survived by her loving husband, Luis; her sons, Luis Jr. and Jose; her grandson, Joseph; her parents, Beatriz Yepez and Andres Yepez; and her siblings, Carlos and Dulce. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and loved ones who will forever cherish her memory.
Above all, Miriam was loving. She loved fiercely, laughed loudly, argued passionately, and gave everything she had to the people she cared about. Her humor, strength, honesty, and unforgettable presence will continue to live on through her family and all who knew her.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7
Miriam Castanon will be forever loved, forever remembered, and forever missed.
