

Mirl Orebaugh passed away Sunday December 21 at the young age of 95. He was born June 1, 1919 in Slough Valley, Alberta, Canada, to Fred and Lillie. Mirl moved to Helendale in 1935 and graduated from Victor Valley High School in 1936. Mirl then went to college for a year. Next he served in the United States Navy for two years. After the military Mirl came back and married Mary Lois Pile. They had three children Orvin, Carol, and Sharron. Mirl was a farmer and ran a feed store at his ranch. He went to work at Riverside Cement as a diesel mechanic and machinist. Mirl was fortunate to find love again and married Sarah Miller who brought 5 more children in to his family, Louis, Sarah, Gale, Fred, and Susan. Mirl was very active in his church and community. He was a local historian, served on the Mojave Water Agency, and the Helendale School Board. Mirl retired at the age of 62 to travel and enjoy his family.
Mirl is survived by his kids: Sarah Wells (Richard), Gale "Buzz" Miller (Dorothy), Carol Guthrie (Speed), Sharron Mays (Randy), Fred Miller (Debbie), Susan Stone (Paul), daughters-in-laws Denise Orebaugh and Claudia Miller, niece Kathy Morales, nephew Alfred Abken, 25 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
Mirl was preceded in death by his sons Luis Miller and Orvin Orebaugh, grandson Jerry Orebaugh and great granddaughter Sabrina Brummet.
Visitation will be at 9:00 Saturday December 27, 2014 At the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 15330 Jeraldo Drive, Victorville, with services at 10:00. Interment will follow at Desert View Memorial Park 11478 Amargosa Rd., Victorville.
