Russell P. Morgan, 62, born in Apple Valley on October 18, 1960, passed away in Apple Valley on June 25, 2023. Russell was born and raised in the high desert. Except for a period in Alhambra, Russell was a lifelong resident of Adelanto and Apple Valley. Russell attended Adelanto Elementary School, Hook Junior High School and graduated from Victor Valley High School in 1978. He was recognized in "Who's Who Among American High School Students." Russell was a member of the California Scholarship Federation (CSF) throughout high school. During this time, Russell played the trumpet in jazz band, marching band, and orchestra.
After attending UCLA and Cal State LA and earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics, Russell found employment in his field of interest working for an engineering firm in Pasadena. He returned to the Victor Valley and used his AutoCAD skills to draw for the budding solar panel industry. His current employer was a local architectural firm and Russell was a draftsman/technician. His interests included music, chess, model trains and model rockets, photography, and his pet Chihuahuas.
Russell was predeceased by his parents, Alfred W. and Dolores E. Morgan of Adelanto, and oldest sister, Donna M. Morgan, of Victorville. He is survived by his brother Arthur W. Morgan and sisters, Martha J. Morgan, and Priscilla L.A. Morgan; nephews William Wimenta, Arthur and Andre Guillen Morgan and nieces Katherine Morgan, Tiffany Wimenta and Faith Morgan-Page. He will be profoundly missed by all his family, friends, and colleagues whose lives were immeasurably enriched by his intelligence, curiosity of how things worked, and his belief in the Lord.
A visitation will be held from 10 to 12 noon with a rosary at 11 am on Thursday, July 13 at Desert View Funeral Home, 11478 Amargosa Road in Victorville, CA followed by graveside funeral services at the Desert View Memorial Park at 12:00 noon. Please join us as we celebrate his life as we give Russell up to the Lord in the Reception Hall on the premises from 1 – 4 pm.
The family would like to fulfill Russell and his mother’s wish that the memory of Russell’s sister, Donna, a Resource Specialist teacher for 20 years at Adelanto School District be remembered. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Donna Morgan Memorial Scholarship Fund, that has been established to accept donations, so that she may continue to help and support those children she taught and cared for so deeply.
