Wanda Glee Bateman, a beloved mother, grandmother, and community member, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on December 18, 1936, in Mitchell, South Dakota, Wanda was a proud and active resident of SilverLakes for 47 years.
After graduating from Nettleton Business College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Wanda devoted much of her career to education, serving as a secretary at Apple Valley Junior High and Victor Valley High School until her retirement. She became an integral part of the SilverLakes community, where she was known for her vibrant spirit and unwavering dedication to others.
Wanda was a passionate member of the SilverLakes Women’s Golf Club, having served as its former president, and a committed participant in the SilverLakes Arts and Crafts Guild. Her creativity extended into her hobbies, including reading, playing Bunco, bingo, and cards, as well as her love for sewing and crocheting. Wanda crafted many cherished pieces for her family and friends, leaving a lasting legacy of warmth and love.She is survived by her children, Debra Lynn Stephens and her husband David and Greg Bateman and his wife Iris; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her sisters, Janet Elledge, Janese Montgomery; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and countless friends who will miss
her dearly.Wanda’s kindness, creativity, and devotion to family and friends will be remembered with deep affection by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her memory bring peace and comfort to those she leaves behind.
