

Mohawk, a native of Hackberry, has resided in Vinton over 60 years and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He retired from Shell Oil Company as a drilling foreman with over 20 years of service, and in retirement he was a consultant. Mohawk served in the Marine Corp Reserves and was a member of the American Legion. He was a hard-working man who gave unselfishly of himself for his family. Mohawk greatly enjoyed his grandchildren, great grandchild, children, telling stories, and drinking coffee.
Survivors include his wife of 56, years, Sharlene Bruno; four children, Keith Bruno, Stacie Bruno and Thomas Prestwood ; Vickie Bruno Vice and husband Michael; and Eric Bruno and wife Melissa all of Vinton; brother, John R. Bruno of Moss Bluff; ten grandchildren, Jude Ray Bruno, Tasha Gayle Bruno, Tyler Bruno, Kinley Bruno, Grace Bruno, Kenneth Phelps, Chance Vice, Chelsea Vice, Emilee Prestwood and Shawn Prestwood; and one great-grandchild, Sawyer Bruno.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Mary “Topey” Choate.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 pm Monday, April 6, 1015 in St. Joseph Catholic Church of Vinton; Burial will follow in Big Woods Cemetery; Deacon Jesse Menard will officiate. Visitation will be 2 – 9pm Sunday, April 5th in Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton and resume at 8am – 1:30pm on Monday. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com
