

Effie was a native and lifelong resident of Vinton. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and traveling with family and friends. Her life quote was "God whips without a whip". She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend.
Survivors include her seven daughters, Carolyn Collier and husband, Dale of Hemphill, Texas, Marilyn Carter and husband, Glen of Mauriceville, Texas, Joyce Flores, Mary Ellen Fisher, and Freda Gould, all of Vinton, Lois Hodge and husband, Craig of Beaumont, Texas, and Darlene Barron of Port Barre, La; three step-children, Bertha Mae Allen and husband, Henry of Oklahoma, Barbara Ann Gould of Shreveport, and Juanita Gould of Lake Charles; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by three sons, Rodney Gould, Thomas Gould, and Jerry Gould; two daughters, Arleen Wills and Linda Gould; and a step-son, Henry Lee Gould.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 22, in Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. The Rev. Randy Milton will officiate. Burial will be in Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly.
