Gary William Wilkerson

Gary William Wilkerson, age 81, of Vinton, Louisiana passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022. Gary was born August 31, 1940 in Sulphur, LA to his parents, Everett "Pete" & Dorothy "Dot" LeBrun Wilkerson.

He was a native of Sulphur and was a 1958 graduate of Sulphur High School where he played football and was later a team manager. He later moved his family to Vinton, LA in 1980. Gary retired as a Certified Industrial Carpenter from Fluor Daniel and later worked as a security guard at West Cal Cam Hospital for many years. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Saints and Astros with his dog, McGee!

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Viola Laughlin Wilkerson; his oldest son, Scott William Wilkerson; and his parents.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Dena (Jeff) Menard, Rena (Kim) Simmons, Lisa Wilkerson, and Mickey Wilkerson all of Vinton, LA; his grandchildren, Megan Menard, Joshua Simmons, Katie Simmons, Zachary (Ashleigh) Menard, and Kelsey Frahm; his great-grandchildren, Rylee, Calum, Wallen, Asa, and Rowan; his brother, Terry Wilkerson of Sulphur, LA.

Cremation was entrusted to Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. The family will hold a private graveside service at Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly at a later date.
